Fire Engine Visit in Nursery

Today, Nursery had a fire engine from Swalwell Fire Station come and visit them at school. This was to support our learning about people who help us. The children met four fire fighters who spoke to them about what they do and how they keep people safe. The fire fighters showed us their uniforms and the children were lucky enough to try on a fire fighters helmet. It was very heavy!

The children were able to have a look inside the fire engine and then had a practice at using a hosepipe! It was great fun! The fire fighters also showed the children some of the tools they use, including a thermal camera, which helps them to find people in a smoky building.

The children really enjoyed meeting the fire fighters today and loved hearing the siren and watching the flashing lights as they waved them goodbye.
