Mosque Visit

Today, Year 6 visited Newcastle Central Mosque.
In RE this year, Year 6 have carried out 2 units of work looking at the Islamic religion. Today, at the mosque, Brother Khadim gave us more information about the Five Pillars of Islam which the children learnt about in the Autumn Term. It was very interesting to learn more information about the new mosque that has been built, Ramadan, the pilgrimage to Mecca and the prayer rituals Muslims follow. Brother Khadim showed the children the Qu'ran and demonstrated the call to prayer. The children also attempted some of the actions that Muslims carry out during prayer time. The children asked many mature, pertinent and interesting questions throughout the morning and are looking forward to continuing learning about Islam in our RE lessons.
