A busy start to Year 1
What a busy few weeks!
In RE, Year 1 children have been learning about Rosh Hashanah. Rosh Hashanah is a Jewish festival which is celebrated in October. In class, the children have been learning about the different traditions people do during the festival. One of those traditions is eating apple and honey. This symbolises welcoming a good/sweet new year. Year 1 tasted the apple and honey and thoroughly enjoyed it! Over the next few weeks we will continue to develop our understanding of Rosh Hashanah before moving onto Yom Kippur.
In PE, the children have been developing their underarm throw in a range of target games. Last week, Year 1 also took part in Greenside's annual cross-country event. The children thoroughly enjoyed it and are looking forward to doing it all again next year.
We hope you enjoy the photos below.
